Import via Email: Importing Leads (csv file) via your Lead Dropbox Email Address

Import via Email: Importing Leads (csv file) via your Lead Dropbox Email Address

Inside Real Estate has released the ability to import leads into the your CRM by using the Lead Dropbox functionality that you use for all of your other Lead Dropbox Sources (see Lead Dropbox Overview for more information on using Lead Dropbox).

This process is designed to be MUCH EASIER than the normal import process, but does have some limitations.  Also, it is important to follow the directions below, as any import can have issues if you don't follow the process.  Specifically, please note the following about using this method to add leads to your system:

Things to Remember When Using the "Import via Email" Feature:
  1. YOU CANNOT ROLLBACK THIS KIND OF IMPORT - other imports we support through your lead and contact center may take some more time, but you can roll those back.  This kinda, you cannot.
  2. You can decide if automation runs for these leads as their imported - read more below.
  3. Double-Check the lead assignment.
  4. You must include all fields in the file - even if you leave them blank.
  5. Field Names are important in your CSV file - double-check before submitting
  6. Including in your file, a Status or Tag that is not in your IRE CRM will add that Status or Tag to your IRE CRM.
  7. Multiple Tags can be separated with the pipe ( | ) character

The Import via Email feature is simple, and useful for being able to have leads quickly and easily added to your Inside Real Estate system.

To import a file of contacts to your lead Dropbox, follow these steps

1. Get your file Ready for Import

Use the following Import Template: https://goo.gl/Xro9VW

Export your contacts from your other system or crm and get them into the CSV format (they may already export in that format).  Open the file in Excel, Google Sheets or another spreadsheet program, and setup your file to match the order as if your were doing a regular import.

Once your file is ready, save it to your computer as a CSV file (the name of the file itself doesn't matter).

2. Find your Lead Dropbox Email Address
Find the Lead Dropbox email you want to use, as instructed here:

https://support.insiderealestate.com/portal/helpcenter/articles/lead-dropbox-overview

2. Compose Email and Attach File
After determining your Lead Dropbox email address, simply:

  • Compose an Email to the Lead Dropbox Email Address
  • Ensure the Subject line contains the Phrase "Import Me" - there can be other words as well, but Import Me must exist in the subject.
  • Attach your CSV file that you prepared in Step 1 above.

3. Send and Verify
Send your email.

Within about 5 minutes, you should be able to verify that the leads came into your system with their information.

** CSV stands for Comma Separated Values.  Most other CRMs or systems that store contacts can export the data into CSV format.  Excel can also export to a CSV if you have your contacts stored in an Excel spreadsheet.
