Forwarding Your Domain through GoDaddy.com
This training is to help you understand the process of forwarding domains to your IRE website. This is done through you domain registrar. The most popular of which is Godaddy.com so our training will focus on completing the process through Godaddy. IRE can help you understand the process and can perform it for you if you’d like to give us your account login information.
Forwarding: Forwarding a domain meaning that when you type in the URL or domain you want, you are taken to your inside-real-estate.com site. For example: If you want to have the domain myhomes.com and forward that domain someone can type in that domain and it will take them to (yourname).inside-real-estate.com. If they type in (yourname).inside-real-estate.com it will take them to that site. The domain/URL myhomes.com will not show up in the address bar but will appear as inside-real-estate.com/johnsmith.
1. Navigate to Godaddy.com Find the login section in the top left corner. Here you will put your username (or customer number) and password.
- After it is accepted, you will click on that button again to access your domains.
2. You’ll then launch your Domain Manager by clicking the ‘Launch’ button to the right of Domains. This will give you access to edit and modify the settings for your various domains.
3. You will then be able to view all your domains in a screen like the one pictured below. Here, you will select the domain you want to forward by clicking the check box on the left.
- After you’ve selected the domain(s), click the ‘Forward’ button and choose ‘Forward Domain’
4. You should now see the screen pictured below. Here, you will choose the main domain you want the other ones to be forwarded to. For best results, we like to have one domain mapped to your website and the others forwarded to the mapped domain.
- If you don’t have a domain mapped already, please see our available trainings on completing that.
- The default domain for your site will be in this format, (first&lastname).inside-real-estate.com, if you'd like to forward to that one.
5. Once you’ve entered the domain you want, click ‘ok’. You’ve done it!
