Writing Tips for Adding a Blog Post

When adding a post there are certain guidelines that you will need to follow to allow yourself the best chances to show up in the search engines and to make your blog professional. Remember to not only talk about the Housing Market in your area, but about the Communities, Neighborhoods, and Lifestyle of your area. This will help you blog be fun for you and your readers.

1. Title

a. Make sure your title is something that will capture the reader’s eye.

Example-   Instead of saying “Homes For Sale in Salt Lake City Ut” 
                  you could say “Finding Your Dream Home in Salt Lake City Ut”

b. Always have a geographical area in your title.

2. Content

a. The more unique your content is the better off you will be.

b. Add 200 to 500 words per post.

c. When referencing other articles-

i. Please just don’t copy and paste the whole article into your post.

ii. Summarize the article and put it into your own words. Feel free to put snippets of the article into your post.

iii. Whenever you use another article please make sure you site your sources properly.

d. Adding pictures and movies and a great way to break up the text of your blog and search engines love them as well. Just remember to add content too.

e. When adding links make sure that for the Target you select “Open Link in a New Window”. This makes sure that your blog is easy to get back to.

3. Category

a. Think of this as an easy way for readers to find posts that you have done in the past. Select 1 to 3 categories and allowing others to sort through past posts

b. Feel free to add categories as you need to.

4. Post Tags

a. You can look at post tags in 2 ways:

i. You will be trying to guess what someone will type into a search engines to find your posts.

ii. You will need to follow the same guidelines that the title has. Add the subject and the geographical area.

b. Some examples you might use are:

i. Homes For Sale in Salt Lake City UT

ii. Tips to Selling Your Home in Salt Lake City UT

iii. First Time Home Buyers in Salt Lake City UT

iv. New Construction Homes in Salt Lake City UT

c. And make sure you are adding at least 5 but no more than 8.

5. The last step of the process is to select the Publish button. This will add the post to the front page of your blog.
